Up to 45 days is the standard guidance. Beyond that the adhesive can start to transfer to the carpet pile. For longer programs swap film mid-program or use a non-adhesive fleece overlay.

Carpet guidance

Use a self-adhesive carpet protection film rated for the traffic volume and the carpet pile type. Low-tack adhesive only - high-tack films will lift loops on cut-pile carpet. Don't leave film down longer than 45 days, the adhesive starts to transfer. On wool or wool-blend carpet test a small area first.
